Josh Hamilton Named MVP of ALCS

Josh Hamilton, the Most Valuable Player in the ALCS, hardly had a chance to make an impact on the Texas Rangers' Game 6 clincher over the Yankees. But his mere presence was enough. Dominant throughout the series, the Yankees chose to take the bat out of Hamilton's hands after the center fielder singled in the first inning. The next three times he came to the plate, the Yankees walked him intentionally -- the ultimate sign of respect. Even when it bit New York in the pivotal fifth inning, as Vladimir Guerrero followed the free pass with a two-run double, Joe Girardi ordered four fingers put up for Hamilton again in the seventh. He was just that good. And of course he did everything he could to deflect the attention to his teammates as he accepted the MVP trophy following the game. "I don't want to talk about myself," he said, "I want to talk about them, because we are the reason we're here. "This group's here because they don't know how to fail. The chemistry on the team is something like I've never known anywhere. All the guys love each other and we support each other. And we love the fans."
