Carlos Delgado Eyes Major League Return

Carlos Delgado is plotting his return to the major leagues. The slugger, who played 17 years in the big leagues but sat out last season, is recovering from surgery on his left hip and says he will be ready to look for a job in spring training. "If I am healthy, I will find a way," Delgado told reporters while visiting the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy over the weekend. "I know how to play. I don't want to retire. The reason why I put myself through three surgeries in 18 months is because I want to play. Otherwise, I would have just hung it up." Delgado was briefly a member of the Red Sox organization last season before he had that third procedure on his left hip, so he will need to convince another club that he's healthy and ready to contribute. "The rehab is coming along, and I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing," Delgado said. "I would say within the next couple of weeks I will have a better idea of when I'm going to be ready because we are going to start sprinting a little bit and I'm going to take batting practice a little bit more often. Right now, it's every other day or every two days just because you just go gradually into it.
