Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio Lead Flurry Of Movie Remakes

Russell Brand, Willow Smith, Jonah Hill are just a few stars looking to revamp film and TV classics like 'Arthur', 'Annie' and '21 Jump Street.'

What do Willow Smith and Beyoncé have in common with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Kenny Wormald? They're all starring (or in talks to star) in the latest round of remakes of beloved films and TV shows coming down the pike.

On Thursday, news broke that Beyoncé would be starring in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake of the 1976 Barbra Streisand classic "A Star Is Born" (which was a remake of a 1954 movie that remade a 1937 film). In the meantime, Will Smith is reportedly petitioning Sony to remake "Annie" (the 1982 movie and 1977 musical) starring his 10-year-old daughter, Willow, best known for whipping her hair.

In October it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio and best bud Tobey Maguire would be starring in Baz Luhrmann's 3-D retelling of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby," with Carey Mulligan joining as Daisy Buchanan.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have been working on bringing the '80s Johnny Depp-starring television series "21 Jump Street" to the big screen since 2008, and they might even get Depp to cameo in it in time for the film's March 16, 2012, release date.

And let's not forget the long hunt for a Ren McCormack (the character Kevin Bacon made famous in 1984), after Zac Efron and Chace Crawford dropped out of the planned "Footloose" remake that finally landed dancer Kenny Wormald the role of his life.

Then there's "Arthur," the Russell Brand-starring remake of the 1981 screwball comedy about a happily drunk millionaire who risks everything for love. The film has tapped everyone from Helen Mirren to Greta Gerwig and Nick Nolte.

Two recently announced remakes are "Lethal Weapon" and "The Wizard of Oz," which are still in early development and without stars attached. Warner Bros. announced their plans to reboot the Mel Gibson-starring franchise on Thursday and tapped writer Will Beall to pen the script with completely new characters. And director Robert Zemeckis announced back in November that he planned on remaking the 1939 Technicolor classic using the script from the original film, with Warner Bros. hoping Robert Downey Jr. will play Oz.

Just this past year, films from "Clash of the Titans" to "The Karate Kid" to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" were remade for the big screen and were well-received by audiences. "Alice in Wonderland" and "Clash of the Titans" went on to become two of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2010, while "Piranha 3D" and "The A-Team" also went on to strong successes, proving that there definitely is a market for these kinds of remakes.

Britney Spears Teases New Track '(Drop Dead) Beautiful'

Snippet of the party song hit the Web over the weekend.

Another day, another Britney Spears Femme Fatale tease. This time around Spears is giving fans a preview of her track "(Drop Dead) Beautiful," which features an appearance by newcomer Sabi (although her part doesn't appear in the super-short tease of the song).

Like most of the songs teased off the March 29 release, this track is a party song. While Spears seems to be flirting with some hottie, she's also getting a bit sassy on the track, which was produced by Benny Blanco, Ammo, JMike and Billboard.

Over a rollicking club beat, she sings, "Look at you/ Look at you/ Be my sweetie/ Be my honey tonight/ Look at you/ Look at you/ Be my sweetie/ Be my honey tonight/ 'Cause you're beautiful/ Drop dead."

Over the weekend, some possible lyrics to her track "I Wanna Go" also hit the Web. On the song, she reportedly sings, "Lately I've been stuck imagining/ What I wanna do and what I really think/ Time to blow out, be a little inappropriate/ 'Cause I know that everybody's thinking it/ When the light's out/ Shame on me, to need to release uncontrollably."

Those weren't the only lyrics hitting the Internet. The lyrics to her song "Inside Out" also dropped on Sunday. On the sexy breakup track, Spears sings, "Said you're gonna be here in two minutes/ Sitting in the mirror getting ready/ Gotta look my best if I wanna break up/ Gotta look my best if I wanna break up/ I can hear you knocking at the back door/ And I know exactly what you're here for/ Trying to say goodbye but I'm not that ready/ Trying to say goodbye but I'm not that ready."

While the couple seems to be on the verge of a breakup, there's apparently still some sexual tension. "You ... touch me and it's turning me on/ I'm telling you, let's just do it all and get down/ So come on/ Won't you give me something to remember?/ Baby shut your mouth and turn me inside out/ Even though we thought we'd last forever/ You got what I want right now."

Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez Just Latest Celebrity/Paparazzi Encounter

Big-name stars like Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Britney Spears have also had tense run-ins with photographers.
By Jocelyn Vena

For many celebrities, their relationship with the prying lens of the paparazzi has always been love/hate. Some bask in the attention and others complain of being hounded relentlessly by hungry photographers. This week, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were caught up in a paparazzi kerfuffle while celebrating the Biebs' 17th birthday in Los Angeles.

After giving the paps the finger during the encounter, Bieber later apologized via Twitter. But he's only the latest in a long history of celebrity/celebrity-photographer encounters: Everyone from Lily Allen to Coldplay's Chris Martin to Sean Penn (the king of paparazzi knockdowns) has had heated moments with the paps. Here, we look back at some of the more memorable run-ins.

Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz
Like Bieber and Gomez, then-couple Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz were involved in a scuffle with the paps in 2006. Diaz claimed a photographer tried to run her over, while the photographer claimed the actors had trapped him as he was trying to get away.

Björk in Bangkok
Björk lashed out a photographer at Bangkok airport in 1996, attacking a female photog who was trying to take pictures of her as she made her way through the airport. Things quickly got physical. The singer also attacked a paparazzo in 2008 in New Zealand, also at an airport, ripping his shirt.

Britney Spears and an Umbrella
During a more trying time in Britney Spears' life, the singer, who had recently shaved her head, attacked a paparazzo's SUV as a pack of photographers looked on. Using an umbrella to carry out the attack, it was believed that Britney was feeling the pressure of the prying paparazzi lens when she wailed on that car in 2007.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry
In 2010, Russell Brand attacked several paparazzi while he and his soon-to-be-wife Katy Perry made their way through LAX. Brand was convinced the photogs were tying to sneak inappropriate pics of Perry.

Kanye West and the Bodyguard
Kanye also had a moment with paps at an airport. West and his bodyguard Don Crowley got into a physical altercation with a photographer in 2008 at LAX. Both he and Crowley were accused of ruining camera equipment after a photog attempted to take the rapper's photo.

The world is still reacting to the news of an 8.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Japan on Friday (March 11). The devastating quake triggered a 10-meter tsunami that now threatens Pacific coastal areas including Hawaii and the West Coast of the United States. Celebrities have taken to Twitter to share their love and support for those affected by the natural disaster.

"I'm sending my thoughts and prayers and love to those in Japan who are hurting," Taylor Swift tweeted. Fellow pop princess Katy Perry shared a similar sentiment, writing, "My prayers go out to anyone that is being effected by the disaster in Japan. #prayforjapan."

Selena Gomez, who was just in the country, took to Facebook to express her concern. "Wow, I don't even know what to say, Japan. I was just there and you were all so wonderful to me," she wrote. "I am sending all my love, prayers and support."

Justin Bieber also tweeted about the news. "Japan is one of my favorite places on earth. ... It's an incredible culture with amazing people. My prayers go out to them. We all need to help." He added, "#prayforjapan."

"Our hearts and prayers are with all of our BSB family in Japan. We love you all so much. Please try to stay safe. ... Kisses and hugs from us!" the Backstreet Boys tweeted, with their tourmates New Kids on the Block adding, "Our thoughts are with all those around the world affected by the earthquake in Japan."

"American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest wrote on Twitter, "Glued to TV watching this unreal earthquake footage out of Japan. Sending prayers to everyone affected. Unbelievable."

As the weather threatens his home state of Hawaii, the president tweeted a strong message of support. "Sending condolences to the people of Japan, particularly those who lost loved ones in the earthquake & tsunamis. U.S. stands ready to help."

"Glee" stars Lea Michele and Amber Riley also had kind words for those affected. Michele tweeted, "So devastating to hear about the huge earthquake & tsunami [in] Japan. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone there." Riley added, "Omg my heart goes out to Japan. I pray this devastation stops."

Embattled actress Lindsay Lohan even seemed overwhelmed by the news, writing, "My mommy just woke my sister and i up to this! god bless those that are in fear."

"The images on the news are breaking my heart," Paris Hilton wrote online. "I am so worried for everyone in Japan. My thoughts are with you Japan. God bless you all."

Lady Gaga's Scrapped Deal Leaves Target 'Surprised And Disappointed'

Gaga dissolved relationship with retail giant over reported political contributions made to antigay gubernatorial candidate.

Retail giant Target has issued a statement in reaction to the news that Lady Gaga has decided not to release an exclusive deluxe edition of Born This Way, due May 23, through the store as originally planned.

In a statement released to MTV News, Target explained that Gaga's reservations about working with the company came as a shock. Gaga had reportedly dissolved her relationship with the chain megastore after LGBT groups began investigating certain donations the store made, including a 2010 donation of corporate funds to MN Forward, a political action committee that supported antigay candidate Tom Emmer in his 2010 run for governor of Minnesota.

"We were very surprised and disappointed by the statements made by Lady Gaga's organization related to her partnership with Target," the company wrote. "Target remains committed to the LGBT community as demonstrated by our contributions to various LGBT organizations, our recently established Policy Committee to review our political giving and our respectful, inclusive workplace environment."

Gaga, an outspoken gay activist, had previously addressed concerns about Target's political leanings but hoped that they would be able to work to expand their LGBT horizons with her onboard.

"That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I've ever had in a business meeting," Gaga said. "Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they've made in the past. ... Our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they've made supporting those [antigay] groups."

Robert Pattinson Reflects On His Hair Evolution

From 'The Wavy Forest' to 'The Cullen Pouf,' RPattz discusses 'dos on 'MTV First: Robert Pattinson.'

In his upcoming film, the 1930s period drama "Water for Elephants," based on Sara Gruen's best-selling novel of the same name, Robert Pattinson begins to show new depth and range as an actor. Plus, his hair looks really, really different.

Much like his career, RPattz's hair is evolving. So, when MTV News sat down with the star for "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," it seemed like the perfect time to reflect on the diverse coifs that have sent his follicle-obsessed fans into a frenzy.

From his "Twilight"-appropriate 'dos such as "The Wavy Forest" and "The Cullen Pouf" to the self-explanatory "Windswept 'What the F---' " to the more subdued and serious looks like "Controlled Chaos" and "Clean & Cut but Hold the Shave," Pattinson took a trip down memory lane of the many haircuts he's rocked.

"I always like ... the 'Forest' thing," he said. Turns out, that particular hair style carried him through what he describes as the "unemployable" phase of his career. While attending the Los Angeles premiere of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" in 2007, Pattinson admitted to looking rather, well, unkempt.

"I walked down Hollywood Boulevard to Grauman's [Chinese Theater] and had to walk through the crowd and stuff," recalled the 24-year-old star who was not yet famous, adding, "I was so hungover and so bloated, and some of the pictures are just so funny. It literally looks like someone just found a homeless person and just put them on [the red carpet]. ... It was so ridiculous."

So, what is it that helps the star maintain that tousled, albeit sometimes homeless-looking hair? Courtesy of his "Twilight" co-star Ashley Greene, we asked RPattz what brand of shampoo he uses: "I use dog shampoo," he joked. In reality, he, like so many other sexy slacker types before him, simply uses, "Whatever is around."

But, the question remained: Would Pattinson ever rock the oh-so-sought-after Justin Bieber 'do? Despite rumors that he and his fellow heartthrob had discussed their hair together ("I never met this guy!" Pattinson told MTV), the actor was somewhat willing to take on the side-swept style. After laughing about the idea of sporting "The Bieber," RPattz quipped that instead he'd wear "a Bieber hat."

Which Robert Pattinson hairstyle is your favorite? Sound off in the comments below!
