Could Magic Johnson bring the NFL to Los Angeles? If he has his druthers, it could be so. The NBA Hall of Famer told the Los Angeles Times that he would be interested in bringing an NFL team back to the city, saying he "really, really wants the NFL to come back to L.A.," but has not yet talked to the league. Johnson recently sold his minority ownership stake in the Lakers, and followed that up by moving 105 Starbucks franchises -- a pair of moves that freed up considerable finances. According to the Los Angeles Times, Johnson owned a 4.5 percent stake in the Lakers, and sold his shares for an estimated $27 million. He sold the franchises back to Starbucks for a reported $75 million. The timing of the sales prompted much speculation about Johnson's future moves, and it appears FanHouse's Tom Ziller was on to something when he wondered if Magic could be the man to bring football back to LA.

Usher has reigned as Pop & B royalty since he hit the scene as a teen crooner in the '90s. Back when his 16-year-old protégé, Justin Bieber, was still a toddler, the ATL singer was making the ladies faint with hits like "You Make Me Wanna" and "Nice & Slow." But his early success was just a prelude to the music-world domination he's achieved with club bangers and deeply personal slow jams in the years since.
Usher's divorce from Tameka Foster was the latest personal development to fueled his 2010 chart-topping album Raymond v. Raymond. Now the singer is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards, and his smash "OMG" will battle it out for a Moonman in three categories: Best Male Video, Best Dance Video and Best Choreography. Here's a look at how the singer's recent success has steered him toward VMA accolades:
Following the release of the divorce-themed "Papers," his more upbeat video "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)" premiered in January 2010. The clip followed the romantic superstar as he tried to juggle the demands of his professional and personal life.
In March, Usher talked to MTV News about incorporating that balance into Raymond Vs. Raymond. "I think this is the one time where I'm able to put it all in, emotionally and the good times — super-freaky and then also super-emotional."
So, it wasn't a big surprise that when Raymond Vs. Raymond finally landed on shelves after several delays, it landed at #1 on the Billboard 200 with over 300,000 scans during its first week.
He went from romantic to racy, busting out his signature, fluid, hip-swiveling moves in the video for "Lil Freak," featuring Nicki Minaj. The star didn't hold back in the visuals or the lyrics, which both detail a freaky rendezvous with some very game ladies. Usher revealed that this track, like many of his other hits, was inspired by real-life experiences.
The club anthem "OMG" featured Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am and revealed the R&B kingpin's more club-friendly side. The accompanying video showcased Usher's easy swagger and ever-sharp dance skills.
Raymond was such a hit that in August the singer released Versus, an extension of the smash album featuring songs like the Jay-Z collabo "Hot Tottie."
Usher, who has a history of tearing up the VMA stage, will return to the main event this year. He recently reminded his fans that live television paired with his onstage wizardry can result in some seriously unforgettable moments. "You never know what's gonna happen on an MTV VMA stage," he said. "I look forward to making it a night to remember."
The star has also made one of the most savvy moves in recent pop music history by signing teen phenom Bieber, who has gone on to induce global tween hysteria and set YouTube records.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through September 12.

Justin Bieber has revealed that this holiday season he's going to release an acoustic album. He made the announcement via Twitter.
"Curious...What is your favorite song on MY WORLD and MY WORLD 2.0?? If you could remix any song with another artist which would it be? And who would you want me to duet with?? and on which song?? Thanks," he initially tweeted before spilling a few more beans about the forthcoming release.
In addition to old tunes, it seems this album will feature a brand-new song as well. "hey dankanter I think it's time to make an UNPLUGGED album for the fans for the holidays....or maybe we already did...hmmmm," he then tweeted to Dan Kanter, the singer's musical director and guitarist. "Maybe we need to give everybody an UNPLUGGED acoustic album with that new song I cut in Hawaii for the holidays...thoughts???"
Bieber, who plays acoustic guitar during many of his live performances, then revealed that he has already recorded songs for the album. Further information, including the release date and the album's title, was not available at press time. "So I'm thinking about breaking out the acoustic guitar and having some fun... ...so an UNPLUGGED album for the HOLIDAYS????" he wrote. "Listening to tracks from the new UNPLUGGED acoustic album. feeling really good about it. dankanter u excited. back to the roots."
Kanter tweeted about the vibe of the album. "@justinbieber Loving the percussion... Cajones and congas!" he teased. "Definitely an influence from our travels around the world!"
At the VMAs, Bieber revealed that he is working on an album of all-new music as well. "[It'll] probably [come out] fourth quarter next year," he said. "Drake is gonna be on that album; I'm not sure [who else]. I'm gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there."

Separately, Rihanna and Lady Gaga have tallied more #1s on the Billboard Pop Songs chart than any other artists, so you can probably imagine what would happen if they were ever to team up on a track.
Well, forget about the imagine part. From the looks of things, RiRi and Gaga are joining forces on Rihanna's upcoming album Loud.
This is according to what appears to be the official track listing for Loud, which was revealed in a scan of its back cover that began making the rounds Wednesday (October 13).
That track listing contains a song called "Broken Heels," on which Gaga is featured. Other cameos on the album include Rihanna's almost-tourmate Nicki Minaj (on a track called "Raining Men"), will.i.am ("Bubble Pop") and — confirming earlier reports — Drake, who guests on "What's My Name?"
It's all very exciting. But is any of it actually real? Well, it bears noting that all of the tracks mentioned in Just Jared's early review of the album ("S&M," "Cheers," "Man Down," "California King (Bed)," "Fading Away" and "Raining Men") do show up on the back cover in question ... but it also bears noting that the ballad "Straight Up Beautiful," which Rihanna herself mentioned just last week, does not.
Fans will have to wait until November 16, when Loud hits stores, to find out for sure. At press time, a spokesperson for Rihanna had not responded to MTV News' request for comment on the Gaga collaboration.
Are you excited about the possibility of Rihanna collaborating with Lady Gaga? Let us know in the comments!

We've seen a few borderline hits so far in this NHL season. For the most part, though, it seems players are adapting to new guidelines regarding hits to the head. Sunday night is a notable exception. Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan could be facing a suspension from the league after a hard hit on Anaheim Ducks forward Dan Sexton Sunday night. Doan is known for his hard-nosed style, and he's never been afraid of playing the game with an edge. He isn't really a dirty player, though, and so Sunday's hit of Sexton -- while maybe not a malicious intent to injure -- is a bit out of character.
