Katy Perry and Russell Brand took the ultimate step in their whirlwind romance on Saturday (October 23): they got hitched in a grand ceremony in India. The couple headed back to the place where Brand popped the question early this year after dating for several months. Since then, in true Brand and Perry style, the duo packed in a spate of memorable moments as they prepared to hit the altar. Here's a look back at some of the couple's interesting public displays of affection as they headed toward superstar matrimony.

Before the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, Brand hyped up his fiancé's upcoming performance of "California Gurls," referring to the pop princess' latest's offering as "her new, brilliant single."

Later in June, the couple showed off their unique shared sense of humor when Brand dubbed Perry a "flatulence factory" during an interview. Perry fired back on Twitter, saying that Brand "light[s] up the sheets with [his] stanky arse."

Perry arrived at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in September with decals of her hubby-to-be pressed on her nails. The manicure was a fitting tribute as the duo sparked their romance at the awards show the year before.

A month before the nuptials Brand got into a scuffle with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport when he felt the paps were trying to snap an up-skirt shot of his lady love. Perry later defended her man's photog scrap, tweeting, "If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job & protect me. #standbyyourman #don'tf---withtheBrands." The paparazzi snafu didn't stop Perry from hitting Las Vegas for a bachelorette bash a few days later thrown by celebrity bestie Rihanna. The affair included stops at a Cirque Du Soleil show and poolside antics.

A week before the big day, Brand said his ideal wedding would be set in "Victorian London," but conceded that getting married in a bygone era wouldn't be possible. The comic also denied rumors that he and Perry were already hitched but added, "Marriage takes place in the heart, so in that sense, we are already married."

Earlier this week, the pop-culture couple touched down in Jaipur for their wedding celebrations. Members of Perry and Brand's families were spotted around the city and on Tuesday the singer punched out what would be her last tweet as a single lady: "TWIT BREAK: Greatest gift u can give us is respect & [love] during this private X. No use wasting ur X w/ STOLEN or FALSE info. Thnk u for this."

On Saturday (October 23), the pair officially became husband and wife in a traditional Hindu ceremony surrounded by friends and family.

Josh Hamilton Named MVP of ALCS

Josh Hamilton, the Most Valuable Player in the ALCS, hardly had a chance to make an impact on the Texas Rangers' Game 6 clincher over the Yankees. But his mere presence was enough.

Dominant throughout the series, the Yankees chose to take the bat out of Hamilton's hands after the center fielder singled in the first inning. The next three times he came to the plate, the Yankees walked him intentionally -- the ultimate sign of respect. Even when it bit New York in the pivotal fifth inning, as Vladimir Guerrero followed the free pass with a two-run double, Joe Girardi ordered four fingers put up for Hamilton again in the seventh.

He was just that good. And of course he did everything he could to deflect the attention to his teammates as he accepted the MVP trophy following the game.

"I don't want to talk about myself," he said, "I want to talk about them, because we are the reason we're here.

"This group's here because they don't know how to fail. The chemistry on the team is something like I've never known anywhere. All the guys love each other and we support each other. And we love the fans."

Lee Westwood Waltzes to No. 1 Ranking

Lee WestwoodHow perfect is this?

After what will be 282 consecutive weeks ranked as the world's No. 1 golfer, beleaguered Tiger Woods will finally lose the top ranking at the end of this month, in part because he is not competing again until November. Woods will be replaced by England's Lee Westwood (right), who has played only one tournament since early August because of injury and is again taking a break.

So the biggest shift in Golf's World Rankings in almost six years comes while neither of the featured participants are playing golf -- and when Westwood arguably isn't even golf's best European.

Germany's Martin Kaymer just won his third straight tournament, dating back to the PGA Championship.

"We have always bowed to America's dominance of the world rankings, with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson one and two respectively," said winning European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie. "But now we don't just have Lee Westwood but also Martin Kaymer coming up as well.

"There is a changing of the guard towards Europe and also the European Tour."

A lot of things about the PGA Tour changed this year.

Consider Matt Kuchar. Sunday's 7-under back-in-the-pack finish in the McGladrey Classic is his last planned PGA Tour appearance of the year. Even so, Kuchar, with just over $4.9 million, is likely to win the PGA Tour money title. If he does, it will be the lowest amount to claim the title since David Duval ($2.5 million) in 1998, the year before the tour's series of big TV contracts began.

Britney Spears' Best Pre-'Glee' Comedy Moments

Before she hits up 'Glee,' relive her small-screen history.
By Jocelyn Vena

Tuesday night's (September 28) "Glee" episode is all about Britney Spears. While fans and the show's stars are excited to see the singer light up the screen in the appropriately titled "Britney/Brittany" episode, it's hardly the first time Spears has performed for a laugh on the small screen (and we're not talking about her docu-series "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic").

Spears brought the funny in a show-opening appearance on the 2009 VMAs, her top 10 list on "Late Night With David Letterman" and on "Saturday Night Live," especially during her stints as the show's host in 2000 and 2002.

In 1999, Britney Spears stopped by "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" to teach Melissa Joan Hart a lesson or two about loneliness, fame and the proper way to do choreography. The duo also hooked up for Spears' "(You Drive Me) Crazy" video from the soundtrack for Hart's movie "Drive Me Crazy," which featured "Entourage" star Adrian Grenier.

Spears was one of the many pop stars to stop by "Will & Grace" when she made an appearance on the show in 2006. She showed off her Southern accent and comedic flair as closeted lesbian Amber Louise.

The singer proved she was funny once again when she appeared on "How I Met Your Mother" in 2008. Her People's Choice-nominated cameo (she was up for Favorite Scene-Stealing Guest Star) had fans rooting for her again after a difficult period in her personal life. She hit the small screen as Abby, a receptionist with a grudge against Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) after he forgot to call her after they, uh, went out.

What was your favorite small-screen moment for Britney Spears? Let us know in the comments!

Ke$ha Works On Her 'Psychic Abilities'

Singer tells Seventeen about touring with spiritual healer: 'We center our chakras before every show.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Ke$ha on the November cover of <i>Seventeen</i>

Ke$ha is a party monster who sings about cute boys and dancing the night away. She regularly paints herself in body glitter and is about as outspoken as they come, so it might come as a surprise to her fans that the "Tik Tok" singer brings a spiritual healer with her when she hits the road.

"I have a spiritual healer on tour with me, and we center our chakras before every show," the Seventeen magazine November cover girl reveals. "We meditate and try to hone in on my psychic abilities, and go to acupuncture, and eat super organic."

But, as she promises in so many of her tunes off Animal, she is also a big-time party girl. "I could party in a cardboard box with people who are funny and don't care," she explains. "For me, it's really about who I surround myself with, so I just try to always be with hilarious people."

And even though she has topped the charts with rollicking party anthems, there are still those who criticize the singer.

"I accidentally read a review, and it was really positive, but at the end it said, 'We don't really know if she has the best voice,' which is bullsh--!" she says. "That's the one thing I'm most confident about. I don't have the best body in the world, but I know for a fact that I have a really good voice.

"It really bummed me out that somebody didn't see that, and then I got upset. But it just made me realize that this is an unveiling process; it's just going to take time. I'm just proving myself to people."

As much as she is known for her songs, she is also known for her interesting fashion choices, which include body paint, feathers, fur, boots and just about anything you might find in a gypsy's suitcase.

"I just like playing with makeup and clothes — so I really don't feel like there are rules, and if there are rules, then I think it's up to you to break them," she says. "That's why I'm wearing blue lipstick right now, because most people would probably say it's not a good color for your lips, but I'm here to show them that it is.

"I love wearing the exact same thing all the time because I think it makes you like a cartoon character," she confesses. "They always wear the same outfit, and everybody always remembers them for it, so I feel like I should do the same thing."

Are you surprised to hear about Ke$ha's spiritual side? Tell us in the comments!

Giants Only Need One Win, but Phillies Confident for NLCS Game 6

PHILADELPHIA -- The NLCS will resume Saturday with Game 6, and the Phillies have the Giants right where they want them.

And vice versa.

If ever a 3-2 series could seem to be even, this is it. Obviously the Giants have the mathematical edge, needing to win just once to go to the World Series, but the Phillies are going to be at home, with the momentum of a Game 5 victory - for whatever that's worth - and a pair of aces to take the mound in the next two games.

Roy Oswalt is 10-0 in his career at Citizens Bank Park, including a stifling eight-inning performance against the Giants in Game 1. The Giants will give the ball to Jonathan Sanchez, who is talented but less experienced.

'Paranormal Activity 2': Five Secrets Revealed

Director Tod Williams leads MTV News through some of the film's trickier aspects.
By Eric Ditzian

Late in August, MTV News took you behind the scenes on a low-budget horror flick called "The Last Exorcism," revealing the secrets behind its special effects and how the actress who played the demonically possessed main character managed to contort her body in such crazy ways.

Now, we're back with another low-budget horror flick about demonic possession: "Paranormal Activity 2," a follow-up to last year's out-of-nowhere blockbuster. The film once again is presented as found material — security-cam footage and home videos shot by a family whose home becomes haunted by a very unfriendly demon with an eye on their baby boy.

Director Tod Williams popped by the MTV Newsroom on Friday (October 22) to share five things you need to know about "Paranormal Activity 2" (beware of mild spoilers below).

There Was No Script
Just because the first "PA" made almost $200 million, that didn't mean the filmmakers were going to change their approach to the second film and actually, you know, write a freakin' script. Like the original, "PA 2" started off with only an outline — but even that they didn't always stick to.

"The entire thing was improvised. Even story beats were improvised," Williams told us. "If we were experimenting with an idea of where the story would go, we would go shoot it. We'd just act it out. Sometimes we kept that stuff, and some of it is in the movie the first time we did it. Sometimes, we'd be like, 'That's interesting, but now we've got to change [something else]. Once we had the house set up, we had the ability to go back and back and back.

"We leapt into this thing not really knowing which way we were going to go, on some level not knowing if we were going to make it to the other side," he added.

The Best Way to Break a Leg Is to Twist
Williams' philosophy of scares can be summed up with the following sentence: "If you're trying to break somebody's leg, if you hit him with a baseball bat, it doesn't break. If you twist their leg and then hit him with a baseball bat, then you'll snap it."

That is to say, the film builds very slowly, from a creepily turning mobile above the baby's crib to the moment when one character is sitting in the kitchen and every single cabinet bursts open with a thunderous clap. It's a scary-as-hell moment.

"We had to twist the audience into a knot before we hit them," Williams said.

The Security Cameras Kept Moving Around
The haunted house is equipped with just a handful of security cameras, each pointed at a specific area of the house: the living room, the baby's room, the front door and so on. The cameras don't pan or zoom, nor are their positions moved at any point during the film. Thus, choosing the exact position for each became a painstaking process for Williams and his team.

To begin, Williams brought cinematographer Michael Simmonds, a vet of low-budget indies like "Big Fan," into the mix. Together they conducted a slew of camera tests inside the house, placing the security cameras in different spots until they found the perfect shot for each one.

"Many of those changed," Williams said. "We realized we'd need to cover parts of the house and leave big spaces that weren't covered. We had to make sure the compositions didn't hurt us by showing too much but were rich and interesting enough so you had to look around and try to find out where you were supposed to be looking."

There Are Essentially No Visual Effects
With Paramount backing the film from the beginning, filmmakers might have been tempted to introduce some fancy visual effects to "PA 2." But Williams made sure to keep the emphasis on practical effects.

"You can see that the language of the film is very real-world," he said. "There is some very simple stuff to make things work, but nothing animated or CGI or creating something that didn't exist. Everything you see is there. Some things were there that are no longer there."

That Baby Is the Best Actor Ever
Perhaps the most startling thing about "PA 2" is the young boy, who walks, opens doors and appears to pause dramatically exactly when appropriate. He really does seem to be urged on by some otherworldly spirit. The key to the performance, the director told us, was an exhaustive amount of takes and some key advice from Williams' wife, Gretchen Mol.

"There were two brothers, and they were wonderful to work with," he said. "Their parents were right there with us. We did a lot of takes — a lot of takes. When we started shooting, these kids couldn't walk. But by the end, they were running around. It changed the way we were going to use them.

"I have a young son who turned 3 this year, and he was in his crib and he got out of his crib, and my wife was in the house alone and she came into the bathroom and he was standing there," he continued. "She told me how freaky it was, and I was like, 'Well, that's pretty cool.' And that's something we played with."

Check out everything we've got on "Paranormal Activity 2."
